What is a virus...
A program or piece of code that is loaded onto your computer without your knowledge and runs against your wishes. Viruses can also replicate themselves. All computer viruses are manmade. A simple virus that can make a copy of itself over and over again is relatively easy to produce. Even such a simple virus is dangerous because it will quickly use all available memory and bring the system to a halt. An even more dangerous type of virus is one capable of transmitting itself across networks and bypassing security systems.

Our solution...
BestComm’s E-Mail Relay Server employs two very powerful agents to deal with these pests. This mission-specific hardware places outbound e-mails through a very meticulous “scrubbing” process, which helps ensure that outgoing e-mails are free of known viruses (Think of this as a bleaching process for e-mails).

You cannot send using your domain name?
1. Many ISP's only allow you to send mail from the email address they supply (i.e. you@your-isp-name.com ) no good if you have your own domain name and want to send mail out as you@your-domain-name.com
2. BestComm’s E-Mail Relay can easily be used with domain names.

Are you limited to sending small email attachments?
1. Many ISP's restrict the size of email messages from 1 to 1.5Mb which can cause a great inconvenience.
2. We allow larger email attachments up to 2Mb per message.

Does your ISP provide a mail server?
1. Some ISP's do not provide outgoing mail (SMTP) services 'at all’ expecting you to use webmail when most people would prefer to use an email program like Outlook /Outlook Express.
2. Even when ISP’s do provide SMTP servers they may be unreliable/overloaded.

Unreliable or overloaded SMTP servers, causing email delivery delays?
1. Some outgoing mail (SMTP) servers are considered a 'low priority' service and may become overloaded. This causes problems sending mail or a delay in mail being sent.
2. For us outgoing mail is a priority, we have high-performance servers on fast network connections to help ensure your mail is delivered fast!

Are you getting 'Relaying Denied' errors or cannot send mail when mobile or using another Internet connection?
1. Typical SMTP mail servers only accept your mail if you are using their Internet connection ('local'). If you use multiple Internet connections you have to change your settings to prevent ‘Relaying Denied' errors.
2. You may be a mobile user using your laptop/PDA on-the-move or you may use two ISP's for better performance or as a backup
3. BestComm E-Mail relay can be used to fix these common issues.

Is your Email getting blacklisted, caught as spam or rejected by other mail servers?
1. Basic authentication used by most normal SMTP servers leaves them open to abuse by spammers and scammers - this can cause them to be blacklisted meaning your mail may not be delivered!
2. We authenticate each login, validate email addresses used to send mail, enforce quotas, virus scan mail sent and use other methods to detect / stop potential abuse making our service much more secure and reliable.
3. If you try to send mail from a dialup / broadband connection many ISP's block port 25 (used for sending mail) and even if they do not many other ISP's will reject mail from you. Relaying your email through BestComm can solve this!

Like the extra security of virus scanning your outgoing email?
1. Email sent through BestComm’s E-Mail Relay is scanned for viruses and our anti-virus signature files are updated several times each day!
2. If you were unlucky enough to get infected with a virus our service can help stop you infecting friends and colleagues you email - plus if a virus is detected we remove the infected email and send an email to tell you!
3. This is not a replacement for anti-virus software on your own PC but great for extra protection!

Do you use multiple Internet connections or get 'Relaying Denied' errors?
1. Normal SMTP mail servers only accept your mail if you are 'local' and using their Internet connection. If you use multiple Internet connections you have to change your settings or get 'Relaying Denied' errors.
2. You may be a mobile user using your laptop or PDA on-the-move - or you may use two ISP's for better performance or as a backup.
